Chemical Composition/Ingredients
The GHS is an acronym for The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards. This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.

EU Hazard Classification Directive 67/548/EECHazard Symbols are used to classify dangerous substances.
Hazard SymbolsRisk Phrases, denoted as a series of numbers preceded by the letter "R" indicate the nature of the special risks, in accordance with Annex III to Directive 67/548/EEC (see Article 23(2)(d) Directive 67/548/EEC). The numbers are separated by either a comma to denote separate statements concerning special risks, or an oblique stroke (/) to denote a combined statement, in a single sentence, of the special risks.
Risk PhrasesSafety Phrases, denoted as a series of numbers preceded by the letter "S" indicating the recommended safety precautions, in accordance with Annex IV to Directive 67/548/EEC. The numbers are separated by either a comma to denote separate statements concerning safety precautions, or an oblique stroke (/) to denote a combined statement, in a single sentence, of the safety precautions.
Safety PhrasesSVHC is a substance (identified by the European Chemicals Agency) that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. SVHC are defined in Article 57 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“the REACH Regulation”) and include substances which are:
SVHC?
1. Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMR), meeting the criteria for classification in category 1 or 2 in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC or in category 1a or 1b in accordance with EC No 1272/2008This directive was recently replaced by the new EU regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
2. Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation, or

This product does not contain any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).
-
Warnings
Eye irritant. If contact with eyes occurs, flush thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, call a physician. -
Acute health effects
From MSDS:
Inhalation: Exposure to high dust concentrations may cause physical discomfort and irritation of the upper respiratory tract. Symptoms include coughing, difficulty breathing, dryness and sore throat.
Eye Contact: Substances with a pH of less than 2.0 are considered corrosive to the eyes.
Skin Contact: Repeated or prolonged contact may produce irritation. Ingestion: May cause burning pain in the mouth, pharynx, and abdomen, followed by abdominal pain, intestinal distention, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: Persons with decreased respiratory function or other pre-existing respiratory conditions or pre-existing skin conditions. -
Chronic health effects
From MSDS:
Due to the nature and composition of this product no chronic health effects are anticipated. Nonetheless, the following effects have been reported two of the products components. Quartz (Crystalline Silica): Acute inhalation of extremely high concentrations or chronic inhalation of finely divided silica dust above occupational standards may cause silicosis. A number of studies have shown that persons diagnosed as having silicosis have an increased risk of dying from lung cancer. Smoking aggravates the effects of exposure. Sodium Silicofluoride: Long-term exposure to concentrations above workplace standards for inorganic fluoride compounds by inhalation may cause fluorosis. -
Carcinogenicity
Quartz is classified as an anticipated human carcinogen (NTP); and an IARC Group 2A carcinogen (human limited evidence, animal sufficient evidence). -
